Freshly disclosed court documents from the Jeffrey Epstein case have unveiled a series of email exchanges in which a figure identified as "A", writing from Balmoral Castle, asked Ghislaine Maxwell to find him "inappropriate friends". The correspondence, which bears hallmarks suggesting the sender is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duke of York, forms part of the latest tranche of evidence released.
Emails from 'The Invisible Man' at Balmoral
The emails, dated August 2001 and February to March 2002, are between Maxwell and a correspondent listed as "The Invisible Man" in the email thread. In a message sent in August 2001, the individual signs off as "A" and states he is "up here at Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family".
The message explicitly asks Maxwell: "How’s LA? Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?" It also mentions exhausting days of activities and the need to give "The Girls" an early night, noting the tiring nature of "splitting them up all the time".
Other identifying details in the August 2001 emails include a reference to a valet and the sender having recently left the "RN". Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor left the Royal Navy in July 2001.
Exchanges Regarding a Trip to Peru
Further correspondence in February and March 2002 centres on arrangements for a trip to Peru. In one exchange, Maxwell forwards messages from a third party, Juan Estoban Ganoza, who asks "About the girls … how old is he?".
In his reply, "A" states he is "overwhelmed at the kindness and generosity of the offers" and adds, "As for girls well I leave that entirely to you and Juan Estoban!"
Another forwarded email from Maxwell, sent in March 2002, lists requests on "A's" behalf for the Peru trip. One line reads: "Some sight seeing some 2 legged sight seeing (read intelligent pretty fun and from good families) and he will be very happy." Maxwell also describes "A" as "a very English sounding gentleman on the phone".
Photographs from the time confirm Mountbatten-Windsor was on an official visit to Peru in March 2002, where he was pictured posing with firefighters in Lima on 8 March.
Context and Responses
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has a long-documented friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell. When approached for comment by the press regarding the latest files, Buckingham Palace did not provide a new statement. The Duke of York has previously and vigorously denied any wrongdoing concerning his associations.
It is crucial to note that inclusion in the released Epstein files is not in itself evidence of any illegal activity. The documents form part of the ongoing public disclosure related to civil litigation.
The released emails show a separate instance where Maxwell apologised for only finding "appropriate" friends, to which "A" replied "Distraught!". These communications continue to fuel scrutiny of the social circles connected to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice.
