Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to a charge of affray following a confrontation at the Tape private members' club in Mayfair, London, on February 19, 2023. The singer appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, where he entered the guilty plea.
Details of the Charges
Brown had initially denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Abraham Diaw at a previous hearing in June 2024. He also denied possessing an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place, and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. These charges have now been discontinued. He will be sentenced on October 26 for the affray charge.
Co-defendant Pleads Guilty
Brown's vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, 40, who had also denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm, has now pleaded guilty to affray. He will be sentenced on the same date as Brown.
Court Appearance
The singer arrived at court flanked by security guards, dressed in a tan suit, gold-rimmed sunglasses, and a St Louis Cardinals baseball hat. A small gathering of fans had assembled outside the courthouse.
Bail Conditions
At previous hearings, Brown was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee as part of his bail conditions, which permitted him to embark on a world tour provided he surrendered his passport upon arriving in each country. He was once again released on bail on Friday.
