Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) is preparing to destroy Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) in EastEnders after receiving devastating news about her son Jordan's recovery prospects. The drama unfolds following the wedding of Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw), when young Jordan ran away after Chelsea snapped at him and was subsequently hit by Ian, who has been consumed with guilt ever since.
Devastating prognosis
Despite sharing an emotional moment with Ian at the hospital earlier this week, Chelsea's world is shattered when she speaks privately with one of Jordan's doctors. In a quiet room, she learns there is a very high chance Jordan's rehabilitation might not work, meaning her young boy could be permanently paralysed.
Reeling from the shock, Chelsea channels her anger toward Ian. At the Beale household, she rails at him, blaming him entirely for Jordan's situation. She points out that Ian knows he is fully at fault, especially since he has already sought legal advice from solicitor Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff).
In a tense confrontation, Chelsea slaps Ian across the face and declares she will make him pay – leaving viewers wondering what drastic action she will take next.
Gray Atkins' looming return
This storyline is set to pave the way for the return of Jordan's father, serial killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith). Next week, Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu) arrives back on the Square to support Denise Fox (Diane Parish). Chelsea admits that Gray's nan, Sheila, has been sending cheques to help support Jordan, but Chelsea has not cashed them.
Overwhelmed by the rising costs of Jordan's care, Libby secretly attempts to contact Sheila. However, she is interrupted when their stepdad Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) calls them to the hospital to see their mother, who makes them promise to care for one another. The harmony between the sisters is later shattered when Chelsea spots a text from Sheila on Libby's phone at The Vic.
Feeling betrayed, Chelsea seeks advice from Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace) and eventually makes peace with Libby, agreeing to call Sheila for help.
Sheila's offer and Chelsea's change of heart
With Libby's support, a nervous Chelsea meets Sheila and is relieved to learn she has no contact with Gray. Sheila offers financial help for Jordan, which Chelsea initially accepts. However, haunted by thoughts of her evil ex-husband, she later has a change of heart and returns the cash.
