Inquest opened after Paul Flack's death

Norfolk Coroner's Court confirmed the death and announced that an inquest was opened on Monday, June 29. Court documents reveal that Paul, a graphic designer and artist, died on June 21, just days after celebrating his 55th birthday on June 18, according to the Mirror. A provisional post-mortem examination has been carried out, with a full inquest scheduled for October 23, as reported by the Eastern Daily Press.

Family tragedy follows Caroline Flack's death

The tragic news comes six years after Caroline Flack, the Love Island host, took her own life in February 2020. Paul and Caroline shared a close bond. His final Instagram post in August 2020 featured a childhood photo of Caroline with the caption: "This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline x." Fans have since flooded the post with tributes. One wrote: "I have no words... rest in peace Paul and give your sister a massive hug." Another commented: "RIP Paul, may you spend eternity with Caroline and I send enormous strength to your mum and family."

Paul Flack's family and documentary appearance

Caroline Flack was one of four siblings: identical twin sister Jody (Jo), older sister Elizabeth (Lizzie), and older brother Paul. Last year, Paul appeared alongside his mother Christine in the Disney+ documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death, which explored the circumstances before Caroline's death on February 15, 2020. In emotional scenes, Christine said: "The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie." She added: "I'm doing my very best to tell the world what some awful people drove you to. I won't give up."

Caroline took her own life after learning prosecutors intended to proceed with an assault charge related to an incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton in December 2019. Coroner Mary Hassell concluded that Flack ended her life due to the looming prosecution and her inability to cope with intense media attention. Christine has alleged that police and prosecutors singled out Caroline because of her fame, claiming they "had it in for her."

Paul is survived by his partner and their two children. For support, Samaritans are available 24/7 at 116 123, jo@samaritans.org, or www.samaritans.org.
