Adam Peaty's estrangement from his family appears to be deepening as he and wife Holly Ramsay prepare to welcome a baby. The Olympic gold medal swimmer, 31, and Holly, 26, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, announced they are expecting a daughter due in December 2026. They married in a star-studded ceremony at Bath Abbey in late December 2025, attended by the Beckhams, Sara Davies, and Marcus Wareing.
Cold text notification
Peaty informed his mother, Caroline, of the pregnancy via a 'simple formal text' while she was on holiday, according to a source speaking to The Daily Mail. The message arrived just as Holly posted the news on social media. Caroline said: 'I am happy for them. News of a new baby is always welcome.' However, the source described the message as 'brief and to the point' and noted 'there was no happy gathering, no phone call just a brief mobile message.'
Ongoing family rift
The Peaty family feud became public in November 2025 when Caroline was absent from Holly's hen party. Shortly after, Adam's brother James was arrested for allegedly sending threats to the Olympian during his stag do in Budapest. Ahead of the wedding, Adam released a statement acknowledging 'challenging times' and urged people to remember there are 'two sides to every story.' At the time, his mother expressed 'heartbreak' over the estrangement.
In May 2026, an insider claimed to The Daily Mail that Adam was 'trying to cash in' on the Ramsay name. The source added: 'He is playing a role. Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn't and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family.'
Ramsay family support
Meanwhile, the Ramsay family has embraced Peaty. Gordon Ramsay defended his son-in-law in The Sun, saying: 'At the end of the day there was a lot of friction going on before all that and so there was some stuff that they needed to sort it out and so it was sad to see that barrage of negativity that was self-propelled by them.' He also suggested the Peaty family was 'feeding the beast' by enjoying press attention.
Peaty also has a five-year-old son from a previous relationship with artist Eirianedd Munro, whom he split from in 2022.
