Jodie Pushes Daniel to Breaking Point in Coronation Street Chaos
Jodie Pushes Daniel to Breaking Point in Coronation Street

If you're looking for a flatmate, maybe don't pick the biggest bunny-boiler on Coronation Street. Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) is about to learn that lesson the hard way. As soap pairings go, Jodie seems about as likely to work out as Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) joining a sewing circle with Gary Windass (Mikey North). But sparks are certainly flying between this dysfunctional duo ever since Daniel invited her to move in.

Jodie couldn't exactly afford to be picky. When her revenge against Shona (Julia Goulding) backfired spectacularly after failing to charm her husband David (Jack P Shepherd) into bed, she had to find some sucker to take her in. A sucker is exactly what she found when she wormed her way into Daniel Osborne's house. Inviting Weatherfield's answer to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction to kip in your spare room might not be the best idea, but Daniel's not exactly got his thinking cap on right now.

The tortured Headmaster of Weatherfield High has been on a downward spiral ever since the whole street found out that the only reason his girlfriend Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) was ever dating him was to hide the fact she'd been sexually abusing one of his under-age students, Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). Daniel's troubles got worse when a snide comment about Megan from Hope Stape (Aurora Flanagan) triggered him to explode in school, resulting in Mrs Crenshaw suspending him from Weatherfield High.

The only reason he let Jodie stay in the first place was that she threatened to tell his family that he lied about 'visiting the Lakes,' when in fact, he was spiralling in the flat and drowning his sorrows. Surprisingly, Jodie has been good for Daniel and has been making herself indispensable around the house – much like she did when she was getting her feet under the table at the Platts.

Are we watching two unlikely friends… or the start of a romance?

But when Daniel started getting his act together for his son Bertie's sake, he tentatively broached the subject of Jodie moving out. All of a sudden, Daniel was being victimised by an online troll by the name of Truthteller, who was spreading false rumours that Daniel knew that Megan was grooming Will all along. Gosh, I wonder who it could be… That's right. It's Jodie. But little does she realise that she is about to push Daniel too far.

In upcoming scenes of Coronation Street, Daniel is harassed by two masked teenagers who pelt him with paint and hurl insults. Furious, Daniel threatens to kill the youths, who mock him and film his reaction on their phones. Daniel is left looking unstable and broken. But the worst is yet to come.

When Ken (William Roache) hears about the attack on Daniel, he urges his son to take another holiday… forcing a guilty Daniel to confess that he never went on holiday, instead hiding in his flat with only Jodie for support. Ken is shocked, asserting Bertie deserves better from his Dad. Has Jodie's latest scheme driven Daniel to rock bottom?
