A bone-chilling scream. A murder mystery. The most anticipated soap wedding of the year. Coronation Street has kicked off its most ambitious murder mystery yet, with five villains pushed to their limits. The stage is set for death in Weatherfield, and the latest episode was packed with clues and teases. Let us break down the action baddie by baddie and guess which cobbles wrongdoer has eaten their last hotpot.
Jodie Ramsey: Paranoia and a Hard Drive
This vengeful baddie has been acting even stranger than usual. Her vendetta against sister Shona Platt took a back seat with the arrival of Olivia, a child she used to nanny. The little girl tried to steal a mysterious hard drive from Jodie's collection. After Jodie kicked her out, two thugs in a fancy car promised to do whatever necessary to get the hard drive themselves. Jodie spent the episode jumping at shadows, mistaking David and Kirk setting up fireworks for intruders. When Shona caught her peeking through blinds, Jodie confessed that her abusive ex (whom she made up) was after her. She stole the hard drive as insurance, but he caught her and ended up bundled in a van belonging to Emmerdale's Graham Foster. Now she has brought trouble to the Platts' door. Shona insisted she give the hard drive back, but Jodie refuses. Shona then told her to leave for her own sake and her family's. Those men mean business. Did Shona just seal her sister's fate?
Carl Webster: The Worst Webster
Carl wrecked the Chariot Hotel's best suite to sabotage Carla and Lisa's wedding. Debbie summoned him and gave him an envelope of cash, telling him to take it and go forever. She cut the apron strings after going to prison for his drunk-driving that killed Billy Mayhew. Carl took the cash but claimed he could not wait to leave. Abi snapped at him, triggering Carl to tear into her: "You left your husband a gibbering wreck! You got two kids on the other side of the world and one in the ground! So you enjoy your peace!" That outburst puts Abi near the top of suspects if Carl is the victim. Debbie gave him a St. Christopher medal for travelers, breaking his heart. He left cut to the core, but not before Abi gave him a death stare.
Theo Silverton: The Sinister Scaffolder
Theo did not appear directly, but his presence loomed. Todd made an official complaint about Theo's abuse, so Theo is not allowed near him. However, on her way to Swarla's wedding, Sally Metcalfe saw Todd with his suitcase packed for Thailand. The camera panned to the roof, where a scaffolder with a helmet and a plank of wood examined the bedroom window, as if trying to break in. Is this Theo paying Todd one last visit? Lauren Bolton mentioned that Summer Spellman wants to say goodbye to Todd. If Theo breaks in, will Summer get there in time to save the closest thing she has to a dad?
Megan Walsh: The Manipulative Child Predator
Megan did not appear, but her spectre loomed. Eva Price shared Megan's sickening brag about sleeping with Will Driscoll to a horrified Leanne and Toyah. Eva cannot tell Ben Driscoll for fear of what he will do. Toyah points out they have no proof. Leanne has a Eureka moment and declares she knows how to deal with Megan once and for all. Let us hope it is better than their last plan, which resulted in assault charges against Eva. If they fail, another character could take matters into their own hands.
Maggie Driscoll: The Husband-Killing Landlady
Maggie felt conspicuous by her absence. She already declined to be part of the previous plan to confront Megan. She has attacked Megan once and is determined to protect her family at any cost. She pushed her own husband down the stairs to keep an affair under wraps. If Eva, Leanne, and Toyah's plan goes south, will Maggie take matters into her own blood-stained hands?
The Wedding of Carla and Lisa
Swarla got hitched. The wedding almost did not happen because Carl wrecked the bridal suit and left taps on, causing water damage. But thanks to Debbie and the girls from Underworld, it went ahead. Betsy had a pep talk with Lisa, proud of how they handled their struggles. Lisa shut down talk of her ex Becky. The episode was packed with heartfelt moments, especially from Roy, who gave Carla Hayley's favourite bracelet as something old, borrowed, and blue. Carla said she had something new right beside her: Lisa. Just when the day seemed perfect, the burglar alarm went off at Underworld. Carla and Lisa found a full wedding reception underway. As they celebrated on the balcony with fireworks, Lisa heard a chilling scream. She thought it was foxes, but it was Betsy Swain discovering a body, as prophesied in the flashforward episode. Whose body? Tune in next week.
