Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has encountered Tyrone Dobbs' (Alan Halsall) father for the first time in years in Coronation Street, and he is an utterly vile man. Cassie has been spiralling following a failed proposal to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). Matters were made even worse in today's episode, as Cassie found Steve helping ex Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) at the flower shop.
Cassie's drunken encounter
Unsure about what exactly to do next, Cassie headed to the Chariot Square Hotel to get drunk. As the vodkas continued flowing, Cassie's eyes widened when a man approached and sat beside her. They were overly friendly with each other and definitely flirting, and Cassie was more than happy to entertain it by way of distraction from her relationship woes.
When we returned to the hotel a while later, the man's behaviour towards Cassie had suddenly changed. He was commenting on how drunk she was, and told her to stop making a show of herself. Cassie was puzzled, but tried to make a move on this newcomer by putting her hand on his face. The man swiped Cassie's hand away, and told her to go to bed. He was disgusted at how quickly she had drunk so much alcohol, and it left Cassie feeling pretty confused. The bloke walked away after signing his bar tab.
The shocking discovery
As Cassie slumped in her chair feeling sorry for herself, she glanced at the bill. To her horror, Cassie realised she had been speaking to – and flirting with – Tyrone's dad. Tyrone was adopted when he was a baby, and it was only in recent years that he learnt the truth about his parents. When Cassie was a child, she fell in with the wrong crowd and was made to sleep with people for money. At the age of 15, she fell pregnant and gave birth to Tyrone, and his dad was a client.
Ross (played by Ian Burfield) displayed some sinister and aggressive traits during his conversation with Cassie tonight. To add another layer to this already dark story, Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) have managed to track Ross down due to using a sample of Tyrone's DNA to find the connection. He will attempt to worm his way into the family very soon, which creates a huge amount of danger for absolutely everyone involved.
What's next for the family?
How long will it take for Ross to show his evil side? And how will Cassie cope when she sees this vile man again? Fans can expect more drama as Ross's sinister intentions unfold.
