Hackney's 2026 Local Elections: Full Candidate List for Every Ward

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Hackney residents will participate in two pivotal elections. All 57 council seats across the borough's 21 electoral wards are up for grabs, alongside the mayoral contest. Hackney is one of five London authorities that directly elects a mayor as its political leader, a system in place since 2002, with Labour winning every mayoral race to date. This year, Labour defends the mayoralty against candidates from the Green Party, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, and Reform UK.

All five major parties are fielding candidates in every electoral ward, while minor parties and independents are contesting specific seats. Notably, the Greens have formed an electoral pact, endorsing candidates from the Hackney Independent Socialist Collective (HISC) in four wards: Homerton, Victoria, Clissold, and London Fields.
