Jonathan Andic, son of the Mango founder Isak Andic, has temporarily stepped down as the fashion group's vice-chair after being named a suspect in the investigation into his father's death.
Open Letter Denying Guilt
In an open letter published on Tuesday, Andic strongly protested his innocence, stating that the accusation bore "no relation to reality." He acknowledged that dismantling the allegations would require significant time and effort, as a public narrative had been constructed that was "one-sided, taken out of context and distorted."
Court Proceedings
A Spanish court named Andic as a suspect last week. Isak Andic died in December 2024 after falling more than 100 meters from a cliff while hiking with his son near Barcelona. The judge's writ indicated evidence suggesting the death may not have been accidental, alleging that Jonathan Andic "played an active and premeditated role."
Jonathan Andic was appointed executive vice-president of Mango's holding company in January 2025, about six weeks after his father's death. Mango's board issued a statement expressing confidence that the legal proceedings would be resolved favorably and swiftly.
Family Relationship
The judge's writ described a deteriorated relationship between father and son, citing Jonathan Andic's obsession with money and WhatsApp messages expressing "feelings of hatred, resentment and thoughts of death." Jonathan Andic disputed this, saying they shared many happy moments and had overcome difficult times together with generosity and support.
