Rabbis Express Deep Concern Over Escalating Tensions
Rabbi Elchonon of Bushey Synagogue articulated the community's anxiety, stating: "We are deeply concerned and deeply worried. We know people who have been affected. We are all on edge. We do not know if we are more of a target. We know that Iran can be indiscriminate. We know they have their proxies. We are monitoring everything and praying."
Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet of Mill Hill Synagogue described heightened tensions during Purim celebrations, revealing a security incident where an unknown individual attempted to enter the synagogue carrying a rucksack. "Security turned him away, he was carrying a rucksack and he quickly got back into his car and left," Schochet reported. "It highlights the uncertainty and extra vigilance and sensitivity around these situations."

Security guards at Golders Green Synagogue confirmed their preparedness, noting visible security presence with guards at gates and regular patrols in surrounding streets. A security guard at a Stamford Hill synagogue explained: "It's a worrying time but since October 7 we are on alert. We try to do what the police advise to have a 'ring of steel' around the place."
The Community Safety Trust (CST), which advises the Jewish community on security arrangements, is collaborating with police to bolster protective measures. A CST spokesperson stated: "The ongoing threat from Iran and its proxies has always featured in our planning and operations, and in our conversations with police and government. Security measures across the Jewish community have been at a very high level since the October 7th terrorist attack in Israel."

Jewish families have been advised to avoid congregating in large groups outside schools or during religious festivals to minimize potential targeting. The security apparatus includes both professional private security firms and the Shomrim, volunteer community patrols that share intelligence with police.
