Residents of Beulah Hill in Upper Norwood have expressed shock and sadness after a man was stabbed outside a supermarket in a daylight attack on the morning of September 21. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim, a man in his mid-30s, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries have since been confirmed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing, according to a police spokesperson.

The incident was reported to police at approximately 10:45hrs on Monday, 21 September, at a supermarket in Beulah Hill, SE19. Officers attended the scene, and the victim received immediate medical attention. The police spokesperson stated: “Police responded to reports of a stabbing at a supermarket in Beulah Hill, SE19 at around 10:45hrs on Monday, 21 September. The victim – a man in his mid-30s – was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries have since been confirmed as neither life-threatening nor life changing.”
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that it received a call at 10.56am to the junction of Crown Lane and Beulah Hill. A spokesman for the service said: “We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.” The rapid response from emergency services ensured the victim was quickly transported for specialist care.

Local residents and shopkeepers have voiced their distress over the incident. Jay Sehu, a shopkeeper at Best One Food and Wine, said: “Something terrible happened here earlier. A pharmacy worker nearby described seeing “loads of police officers coming to the area,” indicating the significant emergency response that was mobilised.
