Murder Investigation Underway Following Tragic Death of Young Woman in Leeds
West Yorkshire Police have initiated a murder investigation after a young woman was discovered unconscious on a street in Leeds and subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, 2026, prompting a significant police response and ongoing forensic examination of the scene.
Discovery and Immediate Response
Officers were dispatched to Kennerleigh Avenue in the Austhorpe area of Leeds shortly before 6:00 AM on March 28, following reports of an unconscious young woman lying in the street. Upon arrival, emergency services found the victim suffering from severe injuries. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment but, tragically, was declared deceased shortly after arrival.
The identity of the young woman remains unknown at this time, with authorities actively working to establish her name and notify her next of kin. In an effort to expedite this process, detectives have released a detailed physical description of the victim in hopes that members of the public may recognize her.
Description of the Victim
The deceased is described as a female of slim build with tanned skin, standing approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall. She is believed to be in her mid to late teens, with distinctive green eyes and brown hair that features darker roots and blonder ends. A notable identifying characteristic is the presence of fixed metal braces on both her upper and lower teeth.
Arrests and Police Investigation
In connection with the incident, police have arrested four individuals from a nearby address. Those detained include two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy, all on suspicion of murder. All four remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Superintendent Bowes stated, "This is an extremely complex investigation where a young woman has sadly lost her life. We are treating her death as murder and have arrested four people in connection with it. He further urged, "We hope by releasing these details that someone will recognise who she is and come forward. I am also keen to speak to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of this morning, or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity."
