Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in an Enfield pub have released a CCTV image of a person they urgently need to identify. The incident occurred at the Sun & Woolpack on Hertford Road, in the Freezy Water area, at approximately 9:30pm on October 19. Emergency services, including armed police and London's Air Ambulance, responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Investigation and Appeal for Information
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and a crime scene remains in place on Hertford Road between the junctions of Turkey Street and Ordnance Road. Forensic officers in protective clothing have been seen working behind the cordon. The Metropolitan Police are asking witnesses to come forward to help establish the circumstances of the incident.
Investigators are sharing the CCTV footage in the hope that someone will recognise the person pictured. In their appeal, police noted, "While unclear at this early stage whether this was a man or woman, or if the person is wearing a disguise, detectives are urging anyone who recognises the person in the image to come forward."
Detective's Statement and Community Reassurance
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time as they begin to come to terms with this senseless act. We are releasing CCTV images of a person we would like to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation as our enquiries progress swiftly. We are also particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiries."
He added: "Even information that may seem insignificant could prove crucial. No piece of information is too small, and I would urge anyone who believes they can help to contact police."
Chief Superintendent Anna McCartney, who leads policing in the area, said: "We recognise the concern local people will have and can reassure them that our officers are working urgently to identify and trace those responsible. Serious violence has no place in our community, and the Met remains fully committed to tackling gun crime. We are determined to establish exactly what happened and provide much needed answers for those affected by this tragic incident."
