Boy dies after lorry collision in Essex; driver arrested

A 48-year-old man has been arrested after a young boy died in a collision with a lorry in Essex, police said. The incident occurred on Epping Road in Ongar at around 4:20pm on Friday. Police and emergency services attended the scene and found the child with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Arrest and Bail

Essex Police arrested a 48-year-old man from Derbyshire on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until mid-September while the investigation continues. Police stated: 'The child sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where, sadly, he died. His family are being supported by specialist officers.'

Investigation and Appeal

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage who was driving in the vicinity at the time to come forward.
