The INKEY List has relaunched its viral Oat Balm Cleanser with a new formula, addressing customer complaints about graininess, oil separation, and packaging issues. Co-founder Colette Laxton revealed that the brand went through 129 rounds of formulations to perfect the product, resulting in a smoother, richer buttery texture.
New formula details
The updated cleanser now contains five per cent oat kernel oil, up from three per cent, providing extra hydration for the skin barrier. It also includes sea buckthorn oil, which offers anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory antioxidants to help balance skin, making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. A trio of natural waxes creates a conditioning texture that leaves skin softer and smoother.
According to the brand, the formula removes 100 per cent of makeup, including waterproof products, and daily build-up in just 30 seconds. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, breakout-prone, and eczema-prone skin.
Customer feedback
Since its original launch in 2018, two units have been sold every minute, with over six million sold worldwide. The cleanser costs £15. One customer described it as a "gentle, nourishing balm" that "effortlessly dissolves the most stubborn waterproof products." Another said, "It melts away waterproof makeup, SPF, and daily impurities in seconds without leaving any residue behind."
Versatile uses
The Oat Balm Cleanser can also be used as a calming and hydrating mask by applying it to the skin and leaving it for 10 minutes before rinsing. It can serve as a shaving balm for those with sensitive skin.
