Go Greek Yogurt, a brand beloved by celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and the Kardashians, has opened its first European store in London, offering a frozen yogurt that rivals ice cream in taste while being healthier. With higher protein, probiotics, and lower sugar, it's a guilt-free indulgence.
What is Go Greek Yogurt?
Founded in Los Angeles in 2012 by Tanja Murgel-Subotic, David Subotic, and Jonathan Williams, Go Greek Yogurt is inspired by Greek principles of natural produce and community. The London branch at 36 South Molton Street brings Mediterranean flavors to Europe. Their signature product is imported Greek yogurt, handcrafted using traditional methods and the Greek philosophy of meraki.
Co-Founder Tanja Murgel-Subotic said: "We are thrilled, excited, and deeply honoured to be entering the European market with the launch of our first store in London. This moment has been a long-held ambition for Go Greek Yogurt, made all the more meaningful by how close it brings us to the origins of our craft in Greece."
The Experience: Flavors and Toppings
The store's blue-and-white décor evokes the Greek flag. The menu includes frozen yogurt, smoothies, and traditional yogurt in sweet and savory varieties. Savory bowls like Aceso and Greek Salad feature Mediterranean toppings, while sweet bowls like Althea, Energia, and Proteini include fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, chocolate, and Greek honey.
For frozen yogurt, there are three signature flavors: plain tart, chocolate, and honey. Vegan options and three rotating seasonal flavors (banana, strawberry, and vegan coffee mocha in July) are also available. Customers can add unlimited toppings from 30 choices, including fresh fruit, berries, nuts, seeds, sweets, and jams.
The chocolate flavor was a standout, even for someone who usually avoids chocolate ice cream. The coffee mocha was too bitter. A combination of banana and chocolate with strawberries and granola was a delight. The natural honey flavor is also highly recommended.
Pricing and Value
Frozen yogurt is priced at £1.75 per 50g, with toppings at 80p per spoon. A generously packed tub cost £13.44, while a smaller portion was just £7.94—reasonable for London.
Health Benefits of Greek Yogurt
Go Greek Yogurt champions nutrient-rich, functional food. Made using traditional methods, it is naturally thick and velvety while preserving nutritional properties. It is packed with protein, probiotics, calcium, and vitamin B12, with less sugar and fewer carbohydrates than standard yogurts. Reduced lactose and natural potassium and iodine aid digestion.
Nutritionist Kristen Stavridis said: "As a nutritionist, I consider Greek yoghurt to be one of the best health foods out there. It's rich in protein, a great source of calcium for healthy bones and fat to support hormone and brain health. It's rich in probiotics to help our gut health and is low in sugars. I love starting my day with a Greek yoghurt bowl—it's a brilliant way to also add other nutrient-dense ingredients to your diet like fibre-rich fruits, nuts and seeds while also keeping you fuller for longer."
