Katie Price slammed as 'irresponsible' for buying £2,000 dog while cat is missing
Katie Price criticised for buying dog while cat missing

Katie Price has been condemned by animal rights group Peta for buying a £2,000 Pomsky puppy in Dubai while her cat Doris is still missing. The 48-year-old former glamour model, who recently reported two of her Sphinx cats missing or stolen, has offered no update on Doris after one cat returned.

Peta criticises Price's actions

In a statement shared with Metro, Peta UK Senior Vice President Mimi Bekhechi said: 'Is there no low to which Katie Price will not stoop? While one of her cats, Doris, is reportedly still missing, instead of being worried sick and out searching for her, as any caring, responsible guardian would, she has flown to another country and acquired a new dog, as easily as one replaces a pair of socks.'

Bekhechi added: 'A Pomsky of all animals, in the Dubai heat, to add insult to injury. How many animals have been lost, discarded, or have died under her so-called “care” before authorities ban her from keeping animals? Peta’s £5,000 offer for her to stop collecting animals still stands, and we implore her to take us up on it – for the sake of Doris, this puppy, and any other animals unfortunate enough to cross her path.'

Missing cat and new pet

Price posted a plea on Instagram Stories for the return of Doris, offering a reward and directing finders to Arun Vets in Storrington. She wrote: 'I came to Dubai Wednesday, and my cats were home Tuesday night. I live in a private area and my cats don’t just disappear. Whoever has them return them. They are my babies.' Hours later, one cat named Eilleen returned, but Doris remains missing.

Days earlier, Price's husband Lee Andrews, who was recently detained in Dubai, claimed one of her eight cats had died, though Price has not confirmed this. The couple signed paperwork for a male Pomsky—a cross between a Pomeranian and a Husky—while in Dubai, where Price appears to be building a life with Andrews, who is reportedly unable to leave the UAE.

History of pet tragedies

Price has a controversial history with pets, with at least eight animals known to have died in her care. Notable incidents include: in November 2017, a horse was killed after breaking loose onto the A24; in February 2018, dog Queenie was hit by a car; in November 2018, pet chameleon Marvin reportedly died of a broken heart; in February 2020, Alsatian Sparkle died after escaping and being hit by a car; in July 2020, puppy Rolo suffocated in an electric chair mechanism; in November 2022, Pomeranian Sharon was hit by a car; in June 2023, dog Blade was run over on the same road; and in August 2025, cat Doris gave birth to a premature kitten that did not survive.

These incidents led to a 2020 petition with over 37,000 signatures calling for a ban on Price owning pets, and a fresh petition in 2025. Peta previously offered £5,000 for her to sign a legally binding agreement to stop acquiring animals.

Price's response

In response to Peta's open letter, a representative for Price told MailOnline: 'Kate has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media. If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.' Price has continued to keep animals, including four cats, though Andrews mentioned on Cameo that one of her eight Sphynx cats had passed away. Metro has contacted Price's team for further comment.
