Security Guard Breaks Silence in Chappell Roan Hotel Drama
The security guard embroiled in a growing controversy involving singer Chappell Roan and the stepdaughter of Jude Law has publicly spoken out, firmly denying any association with the artist's personal security team. The incident, which unfolded at a hotel in Brazil, has sparked widespread online debate after Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello, married to Catherine Harding, the mother of Jude Law's daughter, posted a statement on social media condemning the treatment of his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada.
Guard's Statement Disputes Allegations
Celebrity bodyguard Pascal Duvier issued a detailed statement on Instagram, addressing days of speculation. He clarified that he was at the hotel representing another, unnamed client during the encounter and was not part of Chappell Roan's security detail. 'I do not normally address online rumours, but the accusations currently circulating are false and constitute defamation,' Duvier wrote. He further contested the characterisation of the interaction as aggressive, describing it as a calm judgement call based on prior security concerns, though he expressed regret over the outcome.
Family's Account of the Incident
In his initial post, Jorginho recounted that his stepdaughter was left 'extremely shaken' and in tears after the security guard approached their breakfast table. He explained that Ada had merely smiled at Roan from a distance without approaching or speaking, yet the guard allegedly berated Harding and accused them of harassment. 'Honestly, I don't know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,' Jorginho stated, emphasising that his daughter's actions were those of an admiring child.
Roan's Response and Distancing
Chappell Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has also publicly addressed the situation, stating she was unaware of any interaction and did not direct security to intervene. In a video statement, she expressed sadness over the incident and apologised to the mother and child, reinforcing that she has 'zero tolerance' for aggressive behaviour towards fans. A spokesperson for Roan confirmed she was not involved and had no knowledge of the encounter until later.
Aftermath and Family's Decision
The incident had a lasting impact, with Harding revealing that the family decided to skip Roan's performance at Lollapalooza São Paulo, which was intended as a birthday gift for Ada. Instead, they spent time with singer Lewis Capaldi, whom Harding praised as kind in a follow-up post. The drama highlights ongoing tensions between celebrity security protocols and fan interactions, raising questions about appropriate boundaries in public spaces.
