The eagerly awaited Spotify Wrapped for 2025 has arrived, offering users a deep dive into their personal listening history and revealing the year's most popular artists both in the UK and globally. The feature, which the platform describes as "a chance to look back on your year in sound," compiles data from millions of accounts to create personalised summaries and authoritative music rankings.
How Spotify Wrapped Builds Your Personal Story
Spotify creates its annual Wrapped summaries by capturing user data from January 1st to mid-November 2025. The platform analyses listening habits on every account, though streams made in private mode are mostly excluded from the final tally. To generate your personalised statistics, you need to have streamed at least 30 different tracks.
The core of your Wrapped experience is the "Your Top Songs" playlist and "Your Top Artists" ranking, which are based on the total minutes you spent listening to specific tracks and performers. Another key metric is "Minutes Listened," which reflects the actual time you spent with audio on the platform.
Beyond songs and artists, Wrapped identifies your top music genres and ranks the podcasts and audiobooks you enjoyed by total minutes consumed. If you listened to at least 70% of the tracks on an album, you will also see your top albums featured. One of the more playful metrics is "Your Listening Age," a guesstimate of your age based on the era of music you feel most connected to, calculated using a five-year span of music you engaged with more than other listeners of a similar age.
The Battle for Streaming Supremacy: Swift vs. Bunny
In the UK charts, pop icon Taylor Swift has clinched the title of most-streamed artist for an impressive third consecutive year. However, on the global stage, the top spot was seized by Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, who amassed a staggering more than 19.8 billion streams, pushing Swift into second place worldwide.
The global top five was rounded out by The Weeknd in third, followed by Drake and Billie Eilish. Bad Bunny's album Debi Tirar Mas Fotos was crowned the most listened-to album globally.
UK's Top Artists and Tracks
Following Taylor Swift in the UK's artist rankings, Drake secured second place. Sabrina Carpenter took third, with The Weeknd and Billie Eilish completing the top five. Interestingly, despite being the UK's most-streamed artist, Taylor Swift did not feature in the nation's top five most-streamed songs or albums.
The honour of the UK's most-streamed song of 2025 went to Alex Warren's "Ordinary." The top album was Sabrina Carpenter's Short 'N' Sweet, which was released the previous year.
Spotify Wrapped remains a cultural phenomenon, transforming user data into a shareable, nostalgic snapshot of a year in music, while simultaneously setting the official record for streaming trends and tastes.
