Coronation Street has finally confirmed which local villain has met their end, but that does not mean Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) is out of danger. In the latest episode, the flash-forward storyline reached its climax, revealing that Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was the one killed, after months of terrorizing husband Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). However, Maggie now finds herself in a precarious position, having been left for dead following a heated showdown with Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).
Theo's Fate Revealed
After months of suspense, it was finally disclosed that Theo was the victim of the flash-forward death. Viewers had been speculating about which character would be killed off, with Maggie also in the frame alongside Theo, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), and Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown). The reveal came as a shock to many, but the drama is far from over.
Maggie and Megan's Feud Intensifies
Maggie and Megan have been at odds throughout the week, with tensions reaching a boiling point. Maggie has been determined to see Megan face justice for grooming Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), but Megan has managed to evade responsibility. Matters escalated when Megan overheard a conversation between Maggie and Melanie, learning the truth about the death of Maggie's husband.
Viewers may recall the flashback episode from last year, which revealed that Maggie had pushed her husband down the stairs. Actress Pauline McLynn commented, 'It was a tragic accident when Maggie's husband fell so tragically down the stairs and died [laughs]. The line had been put in, you know, "I can, I've done it before". At this stage, I don't mind if people do think it's murder. She's so far put to the pin of her collar, why not?'
Maggie's Fate Hangs in the Balance
Now, it appears that Maggie may have experienced a taste of her own medicine. She was last seen lying motionless below the balcony after an argument with Megan. Is she set to become another victim? Could Megan be responsible? Or is Coronation Street planning a massive twist by killing off two villains and turning another into a killer?
Actress Hints at Possible Death
Pauline McLynn previously suggested that her character might be killed off. 'When I joined the show, I was told that the plan for the character was to kill her,' she said. 'I think you'll find when you watch all of the five stories that it's very possible more than one person is dead, that's another thing I will say. And the third thing is that the wonderful Kate Brooks said to me once, you're going to get a set of scripts and it looks like you're dead – and you might be. I just wanted to warn you! We don't know.'
The storyline continues to keep viewers on edge, with more twists expected in the coming episodes. For now, fans are left wondering whether Maggie will survive or become the next casualty in Weatherfield.
