LIMA, a contemporary Peruvian restaurant with locations in Fitzrovia and Shoreditch, has earned a recommendation as the poshest expression of Peruvian cuisine in London. The Fitzrovia branch, located at 31 Rathbone Place, is the preferred of the two, according to a review by Time Out.
Fine dining with Nikkei flair
The Fitzrovia kitchen is headed by chef Diego Recarte, who applies technique and precision to Nikkei-based dishes. The menu includes seared beef tataki, Ikejime trout sashimi served with strawberry ponzu sauce, and a stone bass ceviche with leche de tigre, a milky marinade made from lime juice, fish trimmings, onions, garlic, ginger, coriander, and chilli peppers, with no dairy included.
Dishes are presented with vibrant sauces and citrus. The dining room features colourful pendulum lamps and a skylight decorated with a Technicolour fringe hanging above.
Lunch deal and drink options
Between noon and 3pm on weekdays, diners can take advantage of a £27 lunch deal covering a starter and main, with £5 pisco sours available. For drinks, a proper pisco sour is the recommended pairing, though the Aji Margarita offers a refreshing twist.
Opening hours and pricing
The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 10.30pm and closed on Sundays. A la carte dishes range from £3 to £34, tasting menus cost between £68 and £75, and one- or two-course lunch or theatre specials are priced from £19 to £27, excluding drinks.
