Kim Cattrall, 69, Marries Russell Thomas, 54, in Secret London Wedding
Kim Cattrall secretly marries Russell Thomas in London

Actress Kim Cattrall has married her long-term partner Russell Thomas in a secret and intimate ceremony in London. The Sex and the City star, 69, and the audio engineer, 54, exchanged vows at Chelsea Old Town Hall on December 4th with just twelve guests in attendance, as first reported by People magazine.

A Modern Love Story Begins

The couple's romance began in what Cattrall herself has described as a 'very modern' way. They first met in 2016 at the BBC when she was appearing on Woman's Hour. Their relationship, however, started with a direct message. "He direct messaged me," Cattrall revealed in a 2018 interview. "It was very, very modern [and] it's just been very easy."

Their connection grew from there. "We kind of liked each other, we kept in touch, and then he came out to Vancouver," she told People Magazine in 2020. "It was very brave of him because we didn't really know each other, other than having a few meals together. But he came, and we got along great, and we've been together ever since!"

An Understated London Wedding

The wedding was a deliberately quiet affair, reflecting the private nature of their relationship, which they confirmed publicly in 2019. For the occasion, Cattrall chose a sophisticated Dior suit, styled by none other than Patricia Field, the iconic costume designer from Sex and the City. Her groom, Russell Thomas, wore a custom suit by Richard James.

The small gathering of a dozen loved ones at Chelsea Old Town Hall allowed the couple to focus on their commitment away from the glare of the spotlight. Cattrall has often spoken about the comfort and ease she finds with Thomas. "I'm very comfortable around him," she said. "He's a firecracker, and he's got a wicked sense of humour. And he's easy on the eyes!"

A Love Worth Waiting For

This marriage marks Cattrall's fourth trip down the aisle. She was previously married to Larry Davis (1977-1979, annulled), German architect Andre J. Lyson (1982-1989), and audio equipment designer Mark Levinson (1998-2004). She has been open about the difficulties of some past splits, notably describing her second divorce as "tough and nasty."

In contrast, her life with Russell Thomas is described with warmth and gratitude. "It was really gradual with Russ. Our lives were so separate and so different," she told The Times in 2023, noting that the pandemic brought them closer. "It's a nice life, and I'm very grateful for that." She has also famously stated of Thomas, "I love him. And he was worth waiting for."

The couple, who have largely shunned public attention, continue to build their life together, starting this new chapter with a characteristically understated and personal celebration in the heart of London.
