London's newest festival, Summer Daze Festival, will take over Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 July, offering a four-day celebration of culture, creativity, and live entertainment. The event is free to attend, with some ticketed activities, and features a diverse line-up of comedy, theatre, music, family-friendly events, and food and drink.
Comedy Highlights
Comedy takes centre stage in the Hazy Daze Tent, offering a taste of Edinburgh Fringe without leaving London. Headliners include Milton Jones, Lou Sanders, Sarah Keyworth, Tatty Macleod, and Eshaan Akbar. Ticketed comedy clubs run on July 23, 24, and 25 at 7–9pm, priced at £15 plus booking fee. A special Comedy Club 4 Kids takes place on July 26 at 3.30–4.30pm, with tickets at £7 for adults and £5 for children.
Alfresco Theatre and Dance
Union Square hosts alfresco theatre performances, including 440 Theatre's A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Space Theatre & Novem Ensemble's Pews at Ten. On Sunday, Sapnay Entertainment offers beginner-friendly Bollywood dance workshops for all ages and abilities.
Family-Friendly Activities
Families can enjoy Baby Broadway, where West End performers sing songs from musicals and films, with sessions on July 26 at 11–11.45am and 1.45–2.30pm (ticketed). A family-friendly Alice in Wonderland production includes an interactive dance workshop. The Lost Property Library by Wrongsemble offers an imaginative performance, and Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave on July 25 (2–4pm, ticketed) brings bubbles, balloons, and beats for all ages.
Live Music, Poetry, and Bingo
Docklands Sinfonia will perform jazz, brass, and street music, while Busk in London sets provide daytime energy. Friday evening's Musical Bingo at Union Square (7–9pm, £10 per person) combines hit songs, games, and prizes. Poet chefs will roam Water Street creating bespoke poems on the spot at the Poetry Takeaway.
Food and Drink
Wood Wharf's restaurants and retailers join the festivities. CRATE brewery hosts a terrace DJ takeover, TRIBE hotel offers face painting and kids-eat-free dining, and Lockdown bar serves summer spritzes throughout the four days.
Background and Access
The festival is the latest addition to Canary Wharf's summer alfresco arts programme, following the opening of Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre last summer. While many events are free, ticketed events include comedy clubs, Musical Bingo, Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave, Baby Broadway, and Comedy Club 4 Kids. Tickets are available via the Canary Wharf website.
