Free East London Splash Park for Families This Bank Holiday

With the sunshine finally back, Londoners are searching for the best places for kids to cool off in this weekend's warm weather. Fortunately, the capital boasts plenty of completely free destinations ideal for relaxing and enjoying a refreshing splash.

Olympic Park Splash Fountain

The Olympic Park Splash Fountain in Stratford is a firm favourite with locals, offering free entry and plenty of reviews full of praise on Google. With a 4.7-star rating, this water attraction includes 195 jets that operate in their own distinctive pattern, right beside the iconic Olympic Stadium. Available daily throughout the summer season from 10am until 5pm, except when modified for special occasions such as West Ham fixture days, it's an essential destination.

Visitors have praised Stratford's splash pad as an ideal spot for children to cool down during warm weather. One enthusiastic reviewer commented: "Great free water splash area, open from 10am to 4pm, kids love it. Bring a picnic and let them go crazy. No changing facilities so bring a big towel to cover up." Another guest said: "Great area for kids to splash about. The fountain is actually just a snake shape in the ground with water squirts firing upwards about 1m on times sequence. Kids will like trying to run through it without getting caught in a full squirt and soaked. Benches around the side to sit."

Tumbling Bay Playground

For even more water-based entertainment within the Olympic Park, make your way to the Tumbling Bay playground. This recreational space has been crafted to reflect the natural landscape, featuring timber climbing frames, sand areas and rock pools. These pools are integrated into a water installation where children can splash about, climb around and even control the water flow themselves. The playground boasts 4.5 stars on Google, with one visitor commenting: "It has 4 water fountains and quite a few sandy areas. Very sturdy climbing frames and slides. Excellent recreation area for the whole family. Nearby coffee shop is quite good." Another review said: "A great place to bring children for a bit of adventure! The playground goes from the large slide visible from the path on Essex Waybright round to the Timber Lodge cafe where there's a very large sandpit. There is something for all ages, even for the adults. Swings for the under and over 5s as well as high and low bridges, climbing rope nets and fun slides. My children didn't want to leave!"
