East London's beloved pop-up beach bar is returning for summer 2026 with a fresh new look and name. Big Penny Social in Priestley Way, Walthamstow, will reopen as Big Penny Beach Club on Friday, May 22, transforming the ex-warehouse venue into a retro beach clubhouse.
What to Expect at Big Penny Beach Club
The venue, previously known as Walthamstow On Sea, has been revamped with a Balearic-meets-Blackhorse Road aesthetic. Visitors can enjoy sandy areas, bookable cabanas, beach bars, and a new gelateria featuring 12 premium ice creams from Hackney Gelato. A dedicated spritz bar by Aperol will serve frozen cocktails, alongside Camden Town Brewery pints, fish and chips, and special BBQ days.
Activities and Atmosphere
Guests can don Hawaiian shirts, play beach volleyball, and relax in deckchairs under vintage-style decor. A lifeguard hut will host DJs and special events throughout the summer. The venue promises fun for all ages, with pop-up volleyball and a lively seaside atmosphere.
Big Penny Beach Club follows the success of Walthamstow On Sea, which was celebrated for its beach huts, deckchairs, and retro charm. The new iteration aims to build on that legacy with enhanced offerings.
