Ashley Roberts has become the latest alum from this year's I'm A Celebrity...South Africa series to weigh in on the chaos of the live ITV final on Friday. Hosted by Ant and Dec, the two-part event saw tempers flare as the cast relitigated an argument between Jimmy Bullard and Adam Thomas, which was filmed last autumn in South Africa but was not broadcast in its entirety.
The highly contentious clash between former midfielder Bullard and Waterloo Road star Thomas prompted two stars to walk off the stage, while the rest of them were left visibly uncomfortable in front of the ITV cameras. Ashley Roberts was one such I'm A Celeb all-star who has now described the finale as 'unhinged' and 'like a scene from The Jerry Springer Show.'
The Pussycat Doll told Heart Radio: 'It was just unbelievable! People were walking off and there were hands flying everywhere, there was yelling, emotions and crying. It was wild! I don't feel like I'm fully recovered if I'm honest with you.'
Roberts Shares Her Experience
Speaking to hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Monday, Roberts said Bullard and David Haye – who jumped on the bandwagon against the eventual show victor Thomas – came in 'with a mission.' Roberts had the unfortunate position of being sandwiched between Bullard and Haye on stage. The pair launched a barrage of criticism at Thomas for his conduct when Bullard was eliminated in a trial and nearly took the actor home with him.
'I was just trying to dodge big man hands flying in my face,' Roberts said. 'I thought at one point I was going to get smacked. It was absolute chaos. It's a shame because Adam did become the legend and I don't think he was even able to enjoy it because of all of the drama that went on. He had a really tough time in there and it was unfortunate that they had a moment to discuss things as adults and maybe clear the air a little bit. But instead, it was yelling and unfortunate behaviour.'
Roberts Expresses Disappointment
Roberts said she was 'disappointed' by how the finale played out, adding: 'My heart hurt a bit inside because there's so much going on in the world and for us to then treat each other like that. We all went through this really tough experience, and we all could have sat and discussed as adults. It's a TV show and it's supposed to be entertaining, and I was just a little bit disappointed by their behaviour.'
I'm A Celebrity...South Africa is available to watch on ITVX.
