British pop star PinkPantheress has revealed that she was banned from appearing on the BBC game show Pointless because producers told her she was 'too famous.' The singer, whose real name is Victoria Walker, shared the story during a concert in Manchester, much to the amusement of her fans.
Rise to Fame
The 25-year-old artist shot to stardom with hits like 'Boy's a Liar' and 'Just for Me.' She began her career in 2021 while still attending university and went on to win a Brit Award for British Producer of the Year. Despite her success, she remains a fan of the long-running trivia show and desperately wanted to compete.
The Pointless Ban
Speaking to the crowd, PinkPantheress explained: 'Pointless is my favourite trivia show and I wanted to be on the show. I made it to the last stage before they put you on TV. I was in Manchester, ready to go on TV to play Pointless. Then someone comes in and says, wait, hold on – we know who you are. It was a regular Pointless, not the celebrity version. He said you're too famous to be on Pointless.'
She added: 'I said, babes, let me be on this TV show now. And I never ended up on Pointless because I'm too famous.' The crowd cheered in support as she expressed her willingness to donate any winnings to charity just to meet host Alex Armstrong.
Fan Reactions
Fans took to social media to react. One user, Emily, called for PinkPantheress 'to be allowed on every British game/quiz show no matter how famous she gets,' suggesting she should appear on The Wheel, The Chase, Taskmaster, The Traitors, and especially Pointless. Another user, Nelly, wrote: 'This is sending me – why is PinkPantheress so funny? You don't see that you're on billboards, charts, and touring the world?'
Eric added: '@BBC you're missing out, get her on Pointless PRONTO,' while Angelica commented: 'I love her for even trying to get on the show.'
Previous Game Show Appearance
PinkPantheress previously appeared on the celebrity version of The Weakest Link, surprising fans just days after attending the Grammys. Pointless typically airs on BBC One at 5:15 PM every weekday.
