Splatoon Raiders Spin-Off for Switch 2 Resurfaces with Summer Release Date
Almost a year since its initial announcement, Splatoon Raiders has re-emerged with a fresh trailer and a confirmed release date, alongside accompanying amiibo figures. This Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, which vanished after a vague reveal last year, is now scheduled to launch on July 23, positioning it as one of the console's more affordable exclusives at £41.99 for digital pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop.
Game Details and Features
Nintendo has confirmed that Splatoon Raiders is a purely single-player adventure, a departure from the multiplayer focus of the main series. Players take on the role of a mechanic collaborating with Deep Cut, a trio of swashbuckling musicians, to explore the mysterious Spirhalite Islands. The gameplay involves customizing appearances, equipping mechanical gadgets and ink-splattering weapons, and battling hordes of aggressive sea creatures known as Salmonids in search of treasure.
While the exact genre remains somewhat unclear, the game gives off extraction shooter vibes, with players exploring various islands to gather resources. These resources can be used to upgrade weapons and build new gadgets at a home base. Deep Cut members, who debuted in Splatoon 3, can accompany players on explorations and assist in combat against returning Salmonid enemies.
Co-op Options and amiibo Release
Although there is no player-versus-player mode like in the main games, Nintendo's X account indicates that local and co-op options will be available. It is still uncertain whether players can control the Deep Cut members or are limited to their own Inkling characters. Additionally, Nintendo will release three new amiibo figures, each depicting a Deep Cut member in their Splatoon Raiders outfits. These figures will launch alongside the game in a single package, though pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
Broader Nintendo Rumors and Release Context
Insider NateTheHate previously claimed that Splatoon Raiders was on track for a summer release, alongside rumored titles such as a new Star Fox game, Rhythm Heaven Groove (confirmed for July 2), and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, slated for later this year. He also suggested that Nintendo is planning a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the second half of 2026, likely as part of the franchise's 40th anniversary celebrations.
So far, Nintendo has not held a dedicated Nintendo Direct showcase to announce new games for 2026, opting instead to share updates and trailers through its Nintendo Today app. This approach has left fans eagerly awaiting more first-party announcements from the company.
