Tesco Supermarket Cafés Launch Upscale Menu with Turkish Eggs and Matcha Lattes
Tesco Cafés Go Fancy with New Upscale Menu Items

Tesco supermarket cafés have undergone a dramatic transformation, moving far beyond traditional greasy fry-ups and builder's tea to embrace a sophisticated dining experience. The retailer's in-store eateries, formally branded The Café, have introduced an impressive array of upscale menu items that rival independent brunch spots.

A Culinary Revolution in Supermarket Dining

The newly revamped menu features 11 exciting additions that elevate the supermarket café concept to new heights. Among the standout offerings are Turkish-style eggs served with lemon yoghurt, fried eggs, harissa oil, coriander, and crispy onions on toasted sourdough for just £6.95. Equally enticing are the fried chicken and crumpets, garlic mushroom mac and cheese, and smoked salmon bagel plates.

Modern Dishes Meet Returning Favorites

These contemporary creations join existing popular items like smashed avocado on toasted sourdough, nourish bowls with halloumi and grains, and bacon, egg and chilli jam brioche rolls. Tesco has also brought back several former favorites, including the chicken and bacon club sandwich, New York deli focaccia, open chicken caesar flatbread, and the beloved jammie shortbread biscuit for those with a sweet tooth.

The beverage selection has received equally impressive upgrades. Customers can now enjoy a toasted honeycomb latte, blood orange spritz, and rhubarb crumble shake alongside healthier bottled options like Plenish shots and Living Things soda. However, the limited edition rhubarb and custard iced matcha has generated particular excitement, with social media responses describing it as "delicious" and "unreal."

Affordable Luxury in Every Bite

Remarkably, Tesco has maintained supermarket-appropriate pricing despite the elevated offerings. Menu items range from £3.95 for a breakfast bap to £9.50 for hand-battered fish and chips. The Turkish-style eggs and fried chicken with crumpets both cost just £6.95 each, making gourmet dining accessible to everyday shoppers.

Enhanced Café Experience

Tesco is simultaneously upgrading the physical café experience across multiple locations. The improvements include touch-screen self-service ordering systems, updated interior designs with softer seating options, and brighter color schemes. These enhancements complement the culinary upgrades to create a more inviting atmosphere.

During the current half term, Tesco is running its popular Kids Eat Free scheme, allowing children to enjoy a complimentary meal with every adult purchase from Monday to Friday. Customers need only present their Clubcard to take advantage of this family-friendly offer during what can be an expensive time of year.

A Tesco spokesperson emphasized that the new menu is "full of vibrant options to brighten up the winter months" and "further bolsters The Café's fantastic offering of Tesco Finest coffee, all-day breakfasts, cheese-topped toasties, lunchtime classics and a selection of bakery items."

All new menu items are available at Tesco's 329 café locations across the United Kingdom until March 23, giving customers ample opportunity to experience this culinary transformation firsthand.
