‘Cheeky’ Scottish Dad Fights for Life After Holiday Heart Attack

A Scottish father has been left in a coma after suffering a devastating heart attack while on a family holiday in Turkey. Peter McMahon, 52, from Glasgow, went into cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning during his week-long break at a resort in Antalya.

Seventy Minutes Without a Heartbeat

The situation was critical, with paramedics performing CPR for over an hour after his heart stopped beating. His daughter, Teigan McMahon, who flew to Turkey to be at his side, revealed the terrifying details. His heart did not beat for 70 minutes, leading to significant damage to his kidneys, for which he now requires dialysis.

Teigan, 20, described the event as ‘totally different’ from a mini heart attack her dad had experienced a few months prior. She has since launched a desperate appeal for help, setting up a GoFundMe page to cover the escalating hospital bills and future travel costs to bring him home, as he had travelled without insurance that covered such health complications.

A Daughter's Plea to Save Her 'Best Friend'

Teigan has described her father as a ‘cheeky’ and ‘bubbly’ man who is her ‘lifelong best friend’. She stated that the fundraiser was launched to ‘give my dad the best possible chance’ as he remains in intensive care, breathing on his own but still unconscious.

‘We are praying he wakes up. We are hoping for a miracle,’ she said. The fundraiser, set up on a Saturday, saw an outpouring of support, raising £2,772 of their £12,000 target within just a few hours.

On the fundraising page, Teigan made an emotional plea, writing, ‘I can’t stress enough how important every penny counts. This bill is just increasing day by day and unfortunately, far beyond anything me or my family can manage alone.’ She added, ‘I am not the type of person to ask anyone for a penny but I will quite literally beg to save my dad’s life,’ emphasising that ‘no bill should ever stand between’ her father and his potentially life-saving treatment.
