London's Best Festive Schemes: Swap a Toy for Pizza & Spread Joy
London's Best Festive Schemes: Donate & Get Rewards

While many will wake to presents under the tree on December 25th, the ongoing cost of living crisis means countless families across the UK face a gift-less Christmas. This festive season, however, Londoners have a unique opportunity to spread cheer and make a tangible difference, with several local initiatives offering rewards for generosity.

Delicious Rewards for Generous Donations

One of the most enticing offers comes from Rudy's Pizza, which has partnered with the charity Cash For Kids. Their festive toy swap invites the public to donate a brand new, unwrapped toy worth at least £10 in exchange for a free pizza. The scheme runs until December 4 at all eight London locations, including Clapham Common, Shoreditch, and Soho. Donations can be made between 12pm and 5pm, with a maximum of two toys exchanged per visit for dine-in or takeaway.

Major retailers are also facilitating easy giving. Lidl has launched Toy Banks in its stores, accepting unopened gifts of any value, which will be distributed via local charities. Meanwhile, Dunelm has revived its popular Delivering Joy scheme. Customers can select a gift tag describing a person in need, purchase or make a suitable present, and return it to the store for delivery.

Warmth for a Harsh Winter

For the 15th year, the Wrap Up London campaign is collecting clean, pre-loved coats to help homeless people and others struggling through the winter. Organised by Hands On London, collections continue until December 7 at various drop-off points across the capital, including major train and Tube stations. Last year, donations went to homelessness organisations, women’s refuges, and family centres.

Sing for a Life-Saving Cause

Adding a musical note to seasonal charity, the London Ambulance Charity is hosting its first-ever Carol Service, Together in Song. The event takes place at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, on December 16, with doors opening at 6pm. Tickets start from £5 for children and £10 for adults, with all funds raised going to purchase life-saving equipment for ambulance crews across London.

These initiatives highlight a powerful community spirit in the capital, proving that the festive season can be both joyful for givers and transformative for those in need.
