Rodri has warned Arsenal that their Premier League title run-in is ‘not easy’ after Manchester City’s FA Cup victory on Saturday. Antoine Semenyo’s backheel goal sealed City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley, securing a second trophy for Pep Guardiola’s side this season following their Carabao Cup final triumph against Arsenal in March.
Title Race Heats Up
City now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they currently sit two points behind Arsenal with two games remaining. Arsenal will go five points clear if they beat Burnley at home on Monday, while City will take the title race to the final day if they win away to Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Rodri’s Warning
Speaking after City’s FA Cup win at Wembley, Rodri was adamant that Arsenal could still slip up. ‘Yeah, it’s a confidence boost winning the FA Cup, but we don’t lose our calm. Still two games to play, they are massive and very, very tough,’ Rodri said. ‘Everything can happen. We need them to drop points, and it can happen in the next game or the last game. But if I was in their position, it is not easy to finish the task. We have to be there pushing until the end.’
Final Day Drama
On the final day of the Premier League season next Sunday, City host Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, while Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace. Rodri recalled City’s 2022 title race, when they trailed Aston Villa late in the final game: ‘From our experience, we were losing the title against Aston Villa at our home in minute 80. So everything can happen in football. We know how difficult it is to close things and beat everyone in this Premier League.’
