Supporters of Donald Trump who paid a $100 deposit for a gold smartphone may never receive the device or a refund, a year after the product was announced. The Trump Organization launched 'The 47 Plan' mobile network and the T1 Phone in May 2025, but customers are still waiting.
Unfulfilled Promises
The T1 Phone, described as 'sleek, gold,' was supposed to run Android 15 with a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, 50MP camera, 120Hz refresh rate, and 256GB storage. However, after multiple delays, the company updated its preorder terms to state that it 'does not guarantee that a Device will be produced or made available for purchase.' The deposit only offers a 'conditional opportunity' if Trump Mobile decides to sell the device.
Customer Frustration
Fans who paid deposits are angry about the delays and changing production plans. Initially advertised as 'made in America,' the phone is now described as 'designed with American values in mind.' Despite his venture into mobile phones, Trump himself uses an iPhone for work and personal purposes.
Eric Trump, executive vice president of the organization, had claimed the mobile network would 'revolutionize cellphones and mobile calling.' He stated on Fox Business that the company was using technology 'to correct the problems.'
Trump's Merchandise Empire
Trump has capitalized on his presidencies with branded merchandise, including hats, clothing, gold sneakers, trading cards, Bibles, commemorative coins, and a cryptocurrency project. He made over $10 million in 2024 from such sales, according to his financial disclosure report.
From airports to peace organizations, phones to Bibles, Trump is leaving his mark across the United States. A 15-foot gold statue called 'Don Colossus' at his Mar-a-Lago club memorializes the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Additionally, up to 30,000 Americans may soon get passports featuring Trump's photo, and there are efforts to put his signature on US dollar bills and his image on a gold commemorative coin.
