Whisper Films Founders Share £2.6m Dividend After Record Profit
Whisper Films Founders Get £2.6m Dividend

Television presenter Jake Humphrey and former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard have secured a substantial financial reward following the outstanding performance of their production company, Whisper Films. The co-founders, along with chief executive Sunil Patel and backer Sony, shared a total dividend of £2.6 million after the firm announced record-breaking financial results.

A Landmark Financial Year

The impressive pay-out was split between an interim dividend of £680,000 paid in 2024 and a further £2 million distributed in May 2025. This decision came on the back of Whisper Films' stellar performance for the 12 months ending 31 March 2025. According to newly filed accounts at Companies House, the business achieved a remarkable turnover of £92.3 million, a significant increase from the £78 million reported the previous year.

More notably, the company's pre-tax profit saw a dramatic jump, rising from £4.3 million to £6.6 million. Both of these figures represent new all-time records for the production group, cementing its status as a major player in the industry.

Revenue Streams and Geographic Performance

A detailed look at the accounts reveals a shifting revenue landscape. Income from broadcast revenue surged to £83.6 million, up substantially from £55.2 million. However, this growth was partially offset by a sharp decline in earnings from branded content, which was slashed from £22.4 million to £7.8 million.

Geographically, the company strengthened its position in key markets. Revenue generated in the UK rose from £30.2 million to £41.5 million, while its European earnings increased from £16.3 million to £25 million. In contrast, revenue from the rest of the world experienced a dip, falling from £31.4 million to £25.6 million.

Strategic Growth and Future Prospects

Whisper Films, which specialises in live sports production, documentaries, and esports, produces content for a prestigious client list that includes UEFA, FIFA, Wimbledon, the NFL, and Netflix. In a board-signed statement, the company highlighted its successful year of contract wins and renewals, pointing to projects like 'Built in Birmingham' and 'Roland-Garros' as evidence of its robust pipeline.

The statement read, "This further cements the group’s position as one of the world’s leading multi-genre production platforms... and provides the financial security to keep delivering against a strategy optimised to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving media sectors."

These strong financial results emerge amidst reports from March 2025 that Whisper Films was in talks with potential buyers regarding the sale of a stake in the business, exploring options that included both majority and minority investment.
