Trump Mobile Finally Updates Investors on Delayed Gold Phone Shipments
Trump Mobile Updates Investors on Delayed Gold Phone

Hundreds of thousands of angry investors have finally received an update on the long-awaited 'Trump Mobile' gold phones. Donald Trump and his family business launched a new mobile phone network and a gold smartphone, but customers have not yet received the product.

Delays and Updated Terms

Following multiple unexplained delays, the company producing the phones updated its preorder terms this week, stating that it 'does not guarantee that a Device will be produced or made available for purchase.' The Trump Organisation announced 'The 47 Plan' will cost $47.45 per month—in reference to Trump's status as the 47th and 45th president—and a 'sleek, gold' T1 Phone that will be 'designed and built in the United States.'

Shipping and Features

The network has now announced that those who pre-ordered the Trump phone will receive an update email, and the phone will be shipped out this week. 'A powerful device, designed for performance, reliability, and real American value,' the promotional video said. The phone, which uses an Android operating system, is coated in gold, has an American flag on the back, and reads 'Trump Mobile' in gold lettering on the camera. Investors will receive the phone, a charging cable, a charging block, and a clear protective case.

CEO's Response

Trump Mobile CEO Pat O'Brien told USA TODAY the delays were 'worth it' because they are delivering an 'amazing product.' Earlier this week, investors expressed dismay after the company, which claimed the phone would be made in the US, now advertised it as 'being designed with American values in mind.'

Trump's Branded Merchandise

At the time of its release, Eric Trump—Donald Trump Jr.'s younger brother and fellow executive vice president for the organisation—said that Trump Mobile was 'going to revolutionise the kind of cellphones, mobile calling.' Trump has capitalised on his presidency with a slew of his branded merchandise, including Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats and clothing, gold sneakers, trading cards, Bibles, commemorative coins, and a cryptocurrency project, to name just a few.

Earlier this month, it was also announced that up to 30,000 'lucky' Americans will soon show a passport with a photo of Trump to customs officials when travelling abroad. The president made more than $10 million in 2024 selling the merchandise, according to his financial disclosure report last year. He also erected a 15-foot gold statue dubbed 'Don Colossus' at his Mar-a-Lago club, just down the road from the newly christened President Donald J Trump International Airport (formerly Palm Beach International Airport).
