Stirling, situated in central Scotland on the River Forth, is known as the 'gateway to the Highlands'. Its charming Old Town features cobbled streets, quaint cafés, and a historic jail. Key attractions include Stirling Castle, a clifftop fortress that was the childhood home of Mary, Queen of Scots. One TripAdvisor reviewer commented: 'If you have to pick between Edinburgh and Stirling castles to visit, pick Stirling. The exhibits there better explain the history and everyday life of castle residents.'
