US fried chicken chain Raising Cane's is set to open its first UK restaurant in London's West End, with a flagship location at 21-22 Coventry Street, Piccadilly Circus, scheduled for early 2027. The brand, known for its simple menu of chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, and signature Cane's sauce, has over 900 branches across the United States and counts celebrities like Cynthia Erivo, Snoop Dogg, Post Malone, and Halle Berry among its fans.
Details of the UK launch
The new restaurant will occupy the former Angus Steakhouse site, with branding already in place. According to insiders, this opening marks the beginning of Raising Cane's planned European takeover, with additional London branches planned around The Strand, Oxford Circus, Paddington, the South Bank, and drive-thru spots across Greater London.
Founder's vision and brand history
Raising Cane's founder Todd Graves said: "We receive more requests to come to the UK than anywhere else in the world, so I started looking at real estate with the team a few years ago and began identifying top locations to open Raising Cane’s across London and the UK." The chain was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, focusing on high-quality chicken fingers and a distinctive sauce. It grew rapidly by establishing ties with Louisiana State University and maintaining a streamlined menu.
Impact on UK fast-food scene
Raising Cane's joins other US chains like Popeyes, Dave's Hot Chicken, and Chick-fil-A, which opened their first UK branches last year. Chili's Bar & Grill is also reportedly planning a UK comeback, potentially opening 85 to 100 restaurants if successful.
