Groupia Ltd collapses, cancels bookings from Sept 1

Groupia Ltd, a prominent UK group holiday agency, has entered administration after 24 years of trading, forcing the cancellation of all bookings from September 1. The Bath-based firm, which operated under brands including Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips, and Company Away Day, launched in 2002 and served over 750,000 holidaymakers during its existence.

What happened to Groupia Ltd?

The company announced its entry into administration on June 16, 2026. Joint administrators Nigel Fox and Christopher Marsden of S&W Partners LLP have been appointed to oversee the process. A notice on Groupia's website states that 'the company has now ceased taking new bookings, and arrangements are in place with ABTOT to support customers with existing bookings.'

Groupia specialized in group holidays, including stag and hen weekends, golf trips, spa breaks, team tours, ski holidays, and adventure trips. It sent travellers across the UK and Europe to popular destinations such as Barcelona, Prague, and Split.

Impact on customers and bookings

Customers with bookings scheduled before August 31 are protected, as these trips will go ahead. The company confirmed that ABTOT (Association of Bonded Travel Organised Trust), a UK government-approved body providing financial protection for package holidays, has arrangements in place for these bookings. Affected customers can manage their reservations using Groupia's existing VIP booking system.

However, all holidays and events booked from September 1 onward are cancelled. Groupia stated: 'Your event will unfortunately be cancelled and is subject to a refund claim.' The refund process depends on how customers paid, and the company advises visiting its website for further details.

Reasons behind the collapse

Groupia did not specify a reason for entering administration, but the travel industry has faced significant challenges, including soaring jet fuel prices, delays, and market instability. Groupia joins other UK travel firms such as Regen Central Ltd and Gold Crest Holidays that have been forced to close in 2026.

It remains unclear whether the company will seek a buyer or cease to exist entirely. According to the administrators, no further details on potential sale options have been disclosed.
