David Beckham 'chatty and friendly' in Wimbledon Royal Box

David Beckham attended Wimbledon on Monday (June 29) as a guest in the Royal Box, watching Jannik Sinner begin his title defence against Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic. The Inter Miami co-owner, 50, brought his mother Sandra as his plus one and was described as 'chatty and friendly' by fellow guest Joanne Hegarty.

Beckham's Royal Box Appearance

Beckham, a regular at the All England Club, occupied a front row seat in the Royal Box. Hegarty, a fashion influencer and journalist, was seated near him and told HELLO: "Everyone there was looked after very well by the committee. And for me, it was exciting to watch the opening tournament game with celebrities like David Beckham. He was very chatty and friendly and brought his mum as a plus one."

The Royal Box has a strict dress code: men must wear a suit or jacket and tie, while women are asked not to wear hats that might block views. Hegarty noted she wore a skirt by Toteme and a top by Victoria Beckham, which she mentioned to David.

Beckham's Interactions and Style

Beckham wore a brown suit and posed for photos with fellow guests, including ex-Great British Bake Off star Dame Mary Berry. He also took a group shot with his mother, Berry, and Deborah Jevans, chair of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Just days earlier, Beckham attended England's World Cup win over Panama in New Jersey. He may face a dilemma as Wimbledon officials discourage VIPs in the Royal Box from watching the World Cup on their phones. England's Round of 32 match against DR Congo on Wednesday (July 1) will not be shown on screens at Wimbledon.

Wimbledon's Stance on Football

Sally Bolton OBE, Chief Executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, said: "We're not going to be showing the football on any of the big screens around the grounds, but clearly, if people have got their phones, then we're not going to prevent people from watching the football." She added: "We do discourage people in the royal box from using their phones anyway."
