Drunk Passenger Tussles With Police on Ryanair Flight to Bristol
Drunk passenger in police tussle on Ryanair flight

A Ryanair flight from Kraków to Bristol was thrown into chaos by a disruptive passenger who allegedly refused to sit down as the plane prepared to land, leading to a physical confrontation with police officers.

In-Flight Chaos and Refusal to Comply

The incident, which occurred on a flight scheduled to land at Bristol Airport, saw the man standing up despite repeated instructions from the cabin crew. In footage of the event, crew members can be heard firmly telling the individual to ‘sit down’.

Instead of complying, the passenger became verbally abusive, swearing and making rude gestures. His refusal to take his seat is reported to have delayed the aircraft's touchdown, causing disruption for everyone on board.

Confrontation Upon Landing

Once the plane finally landed at its destination, the situation escalated further. Two police officers boarded the aircraft to escort the man off the flight. However, footage then shows the passenger refusing to stand up, leading to a physical struggle.

The officers attempted to handcuff the man as he resisted, with the passenger heard calling them ‘scumbags’ and accusing them of being ‘bang out of order’. According to an account from fellow passenger Kacper Bujak, who filmed the incident, this was not the man's first offence.

Mr Bujak reported that the individual had also caused trouble on a previous flight from Bristol to Krakow just days earlier, on Sunday, and had apparently disrupted border control upon arrival in Poland.

A Pattern of Disruptive Behaviour

The problems continued on the return journey to the UK. The Daily Mail reports that the passenger drank heavily, swore repeatedly, and behaved inappropriately towards a young woman on the flight.

When other travellers asked him to be quieter out of consideration for children onboard, his behaviour reportedly became even more rowdy. The subsequent police intervention was lengthy, with it reportedly taking an hour to remove him from the plane. This delay had a knock-on effect, impacting the plane's next scheduled flight.

In a statement, a Ryanair spokesperson said: ‘Crew on this flight from Krakow to Bristol called ahead for police assistance after an individual passenger became disruptive. Police met the aircraft upon arrival at Bristol and removed this disruptive passenger.’

The airline reiterated its strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct, vowing to take decisive action to ensure a respectful and stress-free environment for its passengers and crew.
