Wigan Warriors delivered a masterclass performance to defeat Leeds Rhinos 34-12 in a thrilling Super League encounter at the DW Stadium. The home side dominated from the outset, with tries from Liam Marshall, Jai Field, and Bevan French setting the tone for a comprehensive victory.
First Half Dominance
Wigan raced to a 20-0 lead within the first 30 minutes, with their attacking flair proving too much for the Leeds defense. Marshall opened the scoring with a try in the 12th minute, followed by Field's powerful run to the line. French added a third try before the half-hour mark, leaving Leeds struggling to contain the hosts.
Leeds Fight Back
Leeds showed resilience early in the second half, with tries from Ash Handley and Richie Myler narrowing the deficit to 20-12. However, Wigan's response was immediate and emphatic. Harry Smith orchestrated the play, setting up two further tries for Marshall and French, sealing the win and a bonus point for scoring five tries.
The victory consolidates Wigan's position at the top of the Super League table, while Leeds remain in mid-table, facing an uphill battle to secure a playoff spot. Wigan head coach Matt Peet praised his team's intensity and execution, while Leeds coach Rohan Smith acknowledged his side's defensive frailties.
