Real Madrid Eye £60m Liverpool Star and Chelsea 'Genius' in Major Transfers
Real Madrid Target Liverpool and Chelsea Stars

Spanish giants Real Madrid are setting their sights on the Premier League, with claims emerging that the club is targeting a sensational double swoop for a £60m Liverpool star and a Chelsea midfield 'genius'.

This transfer speculation comes as Los Blancos enjoy a strong start to the season under new manager Xabi Alonso, having won ten of their opening twelve La Liga games to sit at the summit of the table.

European Giants on the Hunt for Talent

Despite their domestic success, Real Madrid's Champions League campaign hit a minor setback with a 1-0 loss to Liverpool just before the November international break. This has seemingly reinforced the club's intention to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer windows, with the January and summer periods identified as key opportunities to strengthen.

The rumours have been fuelled by insights from two former Premier League players with close ties to the clubs involved. Ex-Liverpool midfielder Igor Biscan and former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin have both suggested that Real Madrid could look to their old teams for new recruits.

Liverpool's 'World-Class' Midfielder in the Spotlight

According to Igor Biscan, a Champions League winner with Liverpool, Real Madrid's interest in Dominik Szoboszlai is a logical move. Speaking to BoyleSports, Biscan heaped praise on the Hungarian international.

'Real Madrid might be interested in Dominik Szoboszlai because his qualities are so good he can play in any team in the world,' Biscan stated. 'He is such a good player and is able to play in so many positions. He can defend, he can really be the one to put pressure, to be aggressive, he can deliver from set pieces, he can attack the box.'

Szoboszlai, 25, moved to Anfield from RB Leipzig in a £60 million deal in 2023 and has since made over 100 appearances for the Reds. He was a pivotal figure in the Liverpool squad that clinched the Premier League title last season.

Chelsea's Defensive 'Genius' Presents Financial Hurdle

On the other side of London, Chelsea's Moises Caicedo is also reportedly on Real Madrid's radar. Pat Nevin told CasinoHawks that the Ecuadorian has developed into one of the world's finest midfielders and is arguably Chelsea's most important asset.

'Caicedo is capable of playing in any team because he's more than a destructive player, he's an absolute genius defensively,' Nevin claimed.

However, Nevin expressed significant doubt about the financial feasibility of such a transfer. Given that Chelsea paid £115 million to sign him from Brighton just two years ago, the numbers involved would be astronomical.

'Yes, he would interest Real Madrid, but I can't see the numbers working,' Nevin admitted. 'You're talking 200 odd million. Unless you're a forward scoring 30, 40 goals a season, that market, I'm not sure about.'

This potential financial barrier makes a move for Caicedo seem far less likely than one for his Liverpool counterpart, despite the clear admiration from Spain.

Real Madrid's first test after the international break is a La Liga fixture against Elche, a team currently languishing in the bottom half of the table. All eyes will be on the club's movements as the transfer window approaches.
