Lehmann: Arsenal vs Bayern a Clash of World's Two Best Teams
Lehmann names world's two best teams before Arsenal clash

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has made a bold declaration, labelling his old club and their upcoming opponents Bayern Munich as the two best teams in the world. The footballing giants are set for a monumental Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Premier League Leaders Host German Champions

This European fixture presents a massive test for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, who currently sit at the summit of the Premier League. The Gunners have enjoyed a sensational start to the domestic campaign, building a six-point lead after losing just one of their opening twelve matches. Their defence has been particularly formidable, conceding a mere six goals in the league.

With traditional rivals Liverpool and Manchester City struggling for consistency, Arsenal are now considered the favourites to win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season, in which Lehmann was a key member of the legendary 'Invincibles' squad.

Formidable Form on Both Sides

Arsenal's dominance has seamlessly transitioned to European competition. They boast a perfect record in the Champions League group stage, winning all four of their matches without letting in a single goal.

However, their flawless run faces its sternest examination against a rampant Bayern Munich. Under manager Vincent Kompany, the German champions are already six points clear in the Bundesliga. Their attack is the most feared in Europe, having blasted 41 goals in just 11 league games. Like Arsenal, Bayern have a perfect 12 points from their four Champions League fixtures.

Lehmann's Expert Verdict

Weighing in on the titanic encounter, Lehmann gave his analysis to TZ Muenchen. "The two best teams in the world currently will be facing each other," he stated. "Both teams are playing at a top level right now."

Lehmann, who will be attending the match, expects a tight contest but acknowledges a slight edge for the home side. "I expect a very close game. Bayern did very well away in Paris [beating PSG 2-1], but if they want to press like that on Wednesday, Arsenal will play a bit differently. It's a home game for Arsenal, so I see a slight advantage for them."

Both teams enter the match in scintillating form. Arsenal demolished rivals Tottenham 4-1, powered by a hat-trick from summer signing Eberechi Eze. Bayern, meanwhile, thrashed SC Freiburg 6-2. England captain Harry Kane is in devastating form for the Germans, with 14 goals in 11 games, supported by the impressive Luis Diaz and Michael Olise.

Arsenal could see the return of key players Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Odegaard from injury, bolstering their squad for this historic fixture. The historical record favours Bayern, who have won eight of the 14 meetings between the clubs.
