Senne Lammens: Man Utd's Surprise Dressing Room Atmosphere Revealed
Lammens on Man Utd's 'surprising' squad togetherness

Manchester United's summer signing, goalkeeper Senne Lammens, has opened up on the aspect of life at Old Trafford that has pleasantly surprised him the most: the remarkably positive and united atmosphere within the squad.

The £18.1m Move and Instant Impact

The 23-year-old Belgian international made a significant step up in his career, joining the Red Devils from Royal Antwerp in an £18.1 million deal during the 2025 summer transfer window. Initially eased into the setup, Lammens has since established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper following Andre Onana's departure, with Altay Bayindir now providing cover from the bench.

His integration into the team has coincided with a period of rebuilding for United, who are striving to climb back towards the Premier League's summit. Lammens' assured performances have been viewed as a positive step in that journey.

A Welcome Surprise: The United Dressing Room

When asked by Stadium Astro which teammates he has grown closest to, Lammens highlighted the overall camaraderie rather than picking individuals. He mentioned veteran Tom Heaton and fourth-choice keeper Dermot Mee, along with the Dutch-speaking contingent, but emphasised the collective spirit.

"I think just in general that’s what surprised me the most," Lammens confessed. "It’s just the togetherness of the group and of the dressing room. Everyone was really nice. So I don’t really want to say one or two guys. It’s in general with everybody, to be honest."

This environment, he says, has made adapting to life in England and at a club of United's stature surprisingly comfortable.

Composure On and Off the Pitch

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lammens reflected on his steady start, which has seen United in a position to potentially rise to sixth in the table with a win over Wolves. "It’s been really good. I think I’ve done what I have to do. Just give the team confidence and be there as a leader behind," he stated.

He identifies composure as a key strength, one he consciously brings from his life off the pitch into his performances. "I’ve always had a healthy amount of pressure. I put it on myself rather from the outside world. I try to be as calm as possible," he explained.

This calmness is supported by a unique ritual: keeping a journal. Lammens writes entries before and after every match, a habit he began during his time at Antwerp.

"I like to write things down before and after a game just to get my head into the right mindset," he said. "Sometimes if things don’t go right, or you don’t want it in your head, you just write it down to get it off your chest."

His pre-game notes include analysis of opponents and personal key points to remember during the match, a method he credits with helping him significantly.

Senne Lammens' Premier League Stats (as of December 2025):

  • Appearances: 8
  • Clean Sheets: 1
  • Saves Made: 17

With a solid foundation both in his performances and his integration into the club's culture, Lammens appears poised to be a key figure in Manchester United's ongoing revival.
