Man Utd eye Man City academy talents Parker and Cassim
Man Utd target Man City teens Parker and Cassim

Manchester United are plotting a raid on Manchester City's academy, targeting teenage midfielders Xavier Parker and Karim Cassim. The Red Devils, who finished third last season under Michael Carrick, are looking to bolster their squad with both immediate quality and future prospects.

Academy Targets Identified

According to the Daily Mail, United are 'attempting to raid' their city rivals for the two youngsters. Parker, a 16-year-old midfielder joined City from West Ham in 2024 and has been described as a 'dynamic, attack-minded' player. He stepped up to the Under-18 squad last season despite only turning 16 in May and has represented England at Under-16 level. Liverpool are also reportedly interested in Parker.

Cassim, also 16, plays in central midfield and has earned England youth caps. Both players are seen as high-potential talents that United hope to develop for the future.

Summer Investment Plans

United have already agreed a deal to sign midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, but more arrivals are expected in midfield and defence. The club's third-place finish secured Champions League football, prompting significant investment. The academy targets are part of a long-term strategy to build depth.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are undergoing changes at academy level. Ben Wilkinson, head coach of the Elite Development Squad, has left for Derby County. Wilkinson was credited with integrating youth talents into the first team, notably Nico O'Reilly. Under-18s manager Oliver Reiss takes over Wilkinson's role, with Lauris Coggin stepping into Reiss' former position.
