More than 600 trombonists gathered in Ipswich, Queensland, over the weekend to break the world record for the largest trombone ensemble, according to the Ipswich City Council.
Record-Breaking Performance
The musicians performed the Broadway classic Seventy-Six Trombones from The Music Man. The Ipswich mayor, Teresa Harding, confirmed that over 600 trombonists participated, surpassing the previous record of 368 set in Washington DC in 2012.
Community Achievement
In a statement, Harding said: 'To see hundreds of musicians of all skill levels in Tulmur Place ready to try and set a new world record is an extraordinary achievement and one that every participant, volunteer and supporter can be incredibly proud of.'
The event was part of a community celebration, drawing participants from various skill levels and ages. The council is now seeking official confirmation from Guinness World Records.
