The OXO Tower’s iconic rooftop restaurant and bistro, located on the eighth floor of the South Bank landmark, will be taken over by the team behind London restaurants Fallow and Roe, with the transition officially beginning in 2027. The new owners plan to make gradual tweaks rather than a complete overhaul, ensuring the venue remains operational throughout the process.
New Era for a Riverside Landmark
The OXO Tower restaurant and bistro, which have offered panoramic views over the Thames since they were launched by Harvey Nichols in 1996, are entering a new chapter after 30 years. The venues were put up for sale following the administration of Harvey Nichols, which was saved by the Frasers Group just last week. The Fallow team, led by James Robson, Jack Croft, and Will Murray, has now confirmed it will take over the space.
While specific details about the future direction remain scarce, the new owners have indicated that they will not undertake a complete redesign. Instead, they intend to “empower the current team” and make incremental adjustments to the existing restaurant and bistro, preserving the site’s character while introducing fresh energy.
Gradual Tweaks and Team Empowerment
According to the announcement, the OXO Tower restaurant will stay up and running as normal during the transition period. The Fallow team’s approach focuses on collaboration with the existing staff and the landlord, a social enterprise, which aligns with their core values and B Corp standards. The gradual tweaks are expected to enhance the venue’s appeal without disrupting its established operations.
James Robson, owner of Fallow, said: “We could not resist this gem of an art deco landmark. The eighth floor views are world famous, and we look forward to working with the incumbent team and landlord to bring some additional character and energy back to this wonderful site. This will be a work in progress and I'm excited to see how our various media and culinary teams can help bring this beloved site to full potential. We’re looking forward to working with the social enterprise landlord, which sits harmoniously with our core values and B Corp Standards.”
Impact and Next Steps
The takeover marks a significant shift for one of London’s most celebrated dining destinations, with the OXO Tower’s eighth-floor views remaining a major draw. The Fallow team, known for their innovative culinary approach at Fallow and Roe, will now apply their expertise to this historic site. As the 2027 handover approaches, patrons can expect the venue to continue operating while the new owners implement their planned tweaks, aiming to revitalize the space while respecting its legacy.
