Luxury Dubai Skyscraper Targeted in Iranian Drone Attack

A luxury residential skyscraper in Dubai has been directly hit by an Iranian drone as part of escalating retaliatory strikes across the Middle East. The attack occurred at the Dubai Creek Harbor development, a prestigious waterfront location in the United Arab Emirates.

Fire Erupts in High-Rise Building

Footage from the scene shows significant flames engulfing portions of the apartment block after the missile was intercepted by defense systems. The fire spread through multiple levels of the building, which contains luxury homes and hotel facilities.

All residents were successfully evacuated from the property, and authorities have confirmed that no injuries resulted from the incident. Emergency services have now fully contained the blaze and brought it under control.

UAE Defense Systems Activated

The UAE Ministry of Defence issued a statement confirming that "UAE air defences are currently responding to missile and drone threats launched from Iran." This attack represents a significant escalation in regional tensions.

These strikes come in response to Operation Epic Fury, a joint US-Israel bombing campaign against Tehran that has prompted Iranian retaliation throughout the Middle East.

Previous Attacks and Airport Disruptions

This is not the first attack to impact Dubai recently. Just yesterday, four individuals were injured near Dubai International Airport:

  • Two Ghanaian nationals
  • One Bangladeshi national
  • One Indian citizen

On Saturday, all flights in and out of Dubai were grounded as Emirates airline prioritized staff safety. Dubai International Airport, which typically handles approximately 95 million passengers annually (compared to Heathrow's 84 million), experienced significant operational disruptions.

British Response and Evacuation Preparations

British citizens are now scrambling to leave Dubai as authorities enforce strict regulations against filming the attacks. A 60-year-old British man was arrested for recording strike footage, as sharing material "that causes public panic or harms public order" violates local laws.

The Royal Navy is preparing evacuation warships to assist stranded British tourists and expatriates. The RFA Lyme Bay has been placed on "heightened readiness" for potential deployment to the eastern Mediterranean.

The Ministry of Defence explained this precautionary measure: "As part of prudent planning, we have taken the decision to bring RFA Lyme Bay to heightened readiness as a precaution, should she be needed to assist in maritime tasks in the eastern Mediterranean."

The situation remains fluid as regional tensions continue to escalate, with luxury residential properties now becoming unexpected targets in this geopolitical conflict.
