A teenage boy was stabbed multiple times in broad daylight on Sumner Road in West Croydon, prompting a police investigation and a major emergency response. The Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the attack, which occurred shortly after 1:10 pm on Tuesday, August 18.
Emergency response and victim condition
Emergency services, including London's Air Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene after calls to 999. The London Ambulance Service confirmed they received a call at 1:12 pm reporting a stabbing on Sumner Road. Resources sent included two ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. The first paramedic arrived in less than four minutes, according to a spokesperson.
The victim, a teenage boy whose exact age has not been released, was treated at the scene for multiple knife injuries. He was taken to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The Metropolitan Police stated that his condition is not life-threatening, though the force awaits a further update on his status.
Police investigation and witness appeal
Officers are conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the attack. No arrests have been made at this stage. Sumner Road was cordoned off between Mitcham Road and London Road while the scene was investigated. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing to contact them immediately.
